1. Overland Journal
For overland lovers, this one simply couldn’t be missed. Overland Journal (the podcast) brings a variety of topics to the table, all related to overlanding. Scott Brady – host and founder – often talks to other people to hear more about their stories, tips, and corners of the world. One episode specifically stuck with us, and that was the one with Kingsley Holgate. This legend travels around Africa in his Land Rover Defender, always with a good cause (such as delivering glasses to people in very remote areas or handing out mosquito nets in malaria-infested areas). These days our good friend Ashley Giordano is hosting the podcast regularly as well!

2. The XOverland Podcast
Clay and Rachelle Croft are among the people we love to listen to most. They are always happy and positive, yet simultaneously realistic and honest. In their podcast – often hosted by their team members – they talk to various people from the field of overlanding (similar to the Overland Journal Podcast) and dive deep when it comes to their expeditions around the world – like their journey to and documentary series about Africa in 2023. But their podcast also contains episodes about traveling with kids, driving rallies (Rachelle’s jam), and more. We find the XOverland Podcast to be fun, interesting and a leisurely listen when it comes to long hours in the car.
3. The Power of Adventure
Megan Hine is a true adventurer. She works with Bear Grylls, among others, and has been on countless adventures into the bush. In The Power of Adventure, she talks to some of those other adventurers, from Reza Pakravan to Anna McNuff. All of them have a story to tell about the crazy adventures they’ve been on. Pip Stewart, for example, kayaked all the way from source to sea on the Essequibo in Guyana (I have also read her incredibly interesting book, which you can find in this blog). Megan cuts to the chase and delivers episodes of circa 30 minutes, yet still knows how to include all the good stuff including lots of laughter.

4. The Travel Diaries
Seven steps to get to know someone, that is how Holly Rubenstein interviews her guests. Although we don’t listen to The Travel Diaries that often, there have been some episodes that I (Manon) and we (both of us) absolutely loved to listen to. In one of her episodes, Holly interviews Jessica McGee from the Bucket List Family and in another, she dives into the world of space travel with Tim Peake. Both of these episodes provided us with some insights into their worlds of travel, and the latter with Tim definitely sparked an interest in space travel in us.
5. Guardians of the River
We can’t make and publish this list without including at least one podcast about nature conservation, can we? Guardians of the River is the one podcast we deem the best out there (compared to the others we’ve listened to), as the podcast takes you along the river into the Okavango Delta through 6 episodes. It isn’t just about nature conservation, but also about research, local communities, and myths and legends. Although sometimes difficult to hear (especially with a rumbling car at high speeds), this podcast is extremely insightful regarding river and habitat protection.

6. Rafiki Rooftop Recordings on Patreon!
Of course, we can’t leave our podcast out of here! In the Rafiki Rooftop Recordings, you take a behind-the-scenes look into our lives, as we cover topics from daily life on the road, to in-depth information on how to get you started on your first overlanding trip – big or small. We are proud of what we are putting out there, but it’s up to you to decide if it’s good or not. So don’t forget to check it out.
